Caliper disc brake

The VMS series is manufactured by Twiflex, and is a spring applied disc brake caliper that is is comprised of two modules bolted to a central mounting plate, 12 mm thicker than the brake disc. It has a minimum disc thickness of 38 mm, and has minimum disc diameter of 1500 mm.

The VMSDP type has a minimum disc diameter of 4500 mm with no maximum except for practical limitations. It has a disc thickness for the standard caliper ranging from 117 mm to 130 mm with the mounting bracket being machined accordingly.

The unit has effective disc radius or actual radius of 0.155 m. There is typically one or two calipers utilized per disc, which positioned at any angle around the periphery, but the number may be increased depending on disc size.
