Standard Hardness Test Instrument

To test hardness of any solid sample up to 300 or alternatively 500 N (Newton) the PTB 111E is designed. The PTB 111E is equipped with a COM port for data transfer and a Pinter port to record the results. The test result is immediately displayed at the LED display of the unit. It offers load cell adjustment and 3-point calibration menus. The instrument meets the latest requirements of the EP and USP monographs.

Operating Principle
Depending on the tablet hardness you can manually test between 6 to 10 samples per minute. The user has to enter a nominal hardness and press the -key. When all data has been collected simply press the -key and get the results including statistical information printed at the attached printer. The auto re-start option allows a faster test and higher throughput of samples compared with a manual Start procedure.

A Note on Calibration

The current USP Pharmacopeia requires the force sensor of a tablet hardness testing instrument to be calibrated periodically over the complete measuring range (or the range used for measuring samples) with a precision of 1N. All Pharma Test tablet hardness testing instrument can be statically calibrated over the complete measuring range by the use of different tracebale counterweights.
