The Winmate display products can be used outdoors as these devices come with a screen which is viewable in daylight. Regular display panels come with transmissive LCDs, which have strong backlights. These backlights make the screen bright indoors but render them non-viewable in sunlight. Reflective technology also has its issues as these screens are unreadable indoors without sidelights. However, as they reflect ambient light, these screens are readable outdoors. Winmate uses a combination of these technologies and its Transflective LCD screens are usable both indoors and outdoors. These screens combine transmissive and reflective and change the technology according to the ambient environment. The display is readable as it uses external light with reflectives outdoors and backlight in dark environment.
