Gap sensor

The AE-1000 from SBS is designed to safeguard grinding machines from damaging crashes between the grinding wheel and machine components. It provides efficient and timely gap and crash control, thus ensuring smooth, glitch-free running of the grinding machine. It also perceives and conveys any contact which occurs due to incorrect attachment of a component. The in-feed is stopped within a fraction-of-a-second, preventing damage or injury.

In the event of an initial contact between the grinding wheel and a newly-fitted component, the AE-1000 instantaneously conveys the contact to the control unit of the machine. The wheel in-feed is stopped in split seconds by the control unit, without any manual intervention. Thus, at least 20% of the routine cycle time is saved. The easy-to-use device is equipped with an OLED display that is driven by commonly used, icon-based software.
