Air compressor / rotary lobe / lubricated / stationary

The medium to be compressed, enters through the inlet into the twin-rotor housing. The rotors and the housing form a chamber in-between. The rotors, symmetrical in size, rotate- one in each direction. This rotation displaces the medium to flow towards the discharge outlet. When the gas flows through the inlet, the rotor revolves and the gas is displaced towards the discharge pipe. The discharge pipe contains pressurized gas. As soon as the rotating rotor clears the tip of the inlet, the backflow of this pressurized gas in turn compresses the gas being displaced from inlet towards the discharge socket. The medium gas is compressed and its pressure adjusted according to the pressure level of the gas in the discharge pipe.

The rate of flow required to compress different types of gases under varying conditions depends on blower data specific to each type of gas. Each revolution of the rotors displaces and compresses a fixed amount of medium gas in litres/revolution, called the scoop volume- qo. Specific blower sizes have specific scoop volumes.
