The Nova 321 Portable Process Oxygen Analyzer uses a reliable, fixed oxygen sensor, which responds rapidly to the oxygen present in a gas sample. The unit's life span is between 3 and 4 years.

The sensor is not hindered by acidic gases like carbon dioxide or sulfur dioxide, and can perform in a background of hydrogen and several other gases. The unit's rechargeable 'gel cell' battery delivers adequate power for the pump and its electronics for about 20 hours of consistent performance.

The device is made to perform, even while charging. A red LED indicates when to charge the analyzer, and a green LED shows that it is currently charging.
