The physical layer TH8080 device is designed to use with a single wire data link able to operate many applications where there is no need for a high data rate. Using a lower data rate can attain cost savings for physical media components and in the network microprocessor.

The TH8080 is constructed in accordance with the LIN Protocol Specification, Rev. 1.3 and 2.0 and SAE J2602 physical layer definition and it can also be used in ISO9141 systems.

The TH8080 extremely low current consumption in the recessive state makes it a good choice for ECU applications that have hard standby current necessities, where there is no need for a no sleep/wake up control from the microprocessor.
