For noise with medium-low frequency spectral components, propagating through the exhaust pipes of endothermic engines,
intake and exhaust ducts of Roots-type blowers, piston air compressors, etc.

WORKING PRINCIPLE
Sound energy propagating along the ducts is channelled into the silencer, going through the reactive section first and then the dissipative section, [dapprima scritto con I'apostrofo...]
The reactive section is composed of multiple-chamber resonators tuned on the dominant frequencies, which cancel low
frequency impulsive tones.
The residual sound energy crosses then the dissipative section in which the medium-high frequencies are deadened.
