The ISA 500 is an asynchronous electric spindle motor which is developed for functionality. The motors can work with minimal maintenance, and their slim lines and square housing cross-section allows the installation in rows with minimum separation.

An AC short circuit rotor and two-pole windings, insulated according to heat class F, are used in the electrical construction of the motors. These motors are balanced to gain improved tolerances, to ensure that good operating properties are achieved even at high speeds. The motors cover an overall speed range of 3,000 to 30,000 rpm. They meet the criteria for an IP54 class rating, thus enabling the motors to work in conditions with wood dust.

A wide range of accessories, such as vacuum cleaning systems, minimum amount greasing systems, and clamping rings may be used with the motor.
