What is a cartridge dust collector? What is it?

A cartridge dust collector is a machine used for separating material from the air and store it into containers.
The suction is provided by a centrifugal fan, generally positioned upstream the system, so that the powder, first passing through the filters, is retained by the same and avoid entering in the ventilator with the possibility of damage it.
The principle on which it is based is the following: the air and dust enter in the system where they meet a series of cylindrical filters (cartridges) that separate them; at this point the filtered air enters the fan and is ejected into the atmosphere by special discharge pipes; instead the material is stored in cellophane bags or in collection bins positioned on the floor in the lower part of the plant. The main difference compared to the sleeve filters consists in the treated material: while the sleeve filters are more suitable for thick dust and shavings, the cartridge filters are more suitable for fine dust such as the polishing residues in general.
