Utilizing a centrifugal force that is similar to that of a cyclone, these air classifiers can easily and quickly separate particles. These devices have cutpoints of between 15 and 100 microns, and use a primary inlet flow stream to carry feed material to the classifier. Drag forces are provided by the internal baffles on coarse particles, this lets air pass through them in order to facilitate the fine separations taking place. Heavy particles will then fall to the classifier's bottom and will eventually be eliminated from the machine using a valve. These devices are suitable for use in beneficiating concrete additives, increasing over screen throughput, and industrial fine particle separation. These air classifiers also have uses in both food and pharmaceutical fields.
