Avantes, a leader in the industry, has developed a DLL package that enables the development of customized software for the Avantes fiber-optic multiplexers. This enables full control over the multiplexers, which allows the setting of all parameters. The first parameter is 'find reference position', which is mandatory after the stop command and after power-up. Next, 'go to channel' can move the disk to a specified optical channel, from 1 to 16.

'Go to step', on the other hand, can move the disk by 360 degrees from the reference position. This feature is especially useful for setting the position of a disk by number of steps from the reference position. The 360 degrees are divided in 3,200 motor steps, while 'get status' is a command that will return the position, power and status of the motor. Finally, the speed parameters are given with the options 'go to channel' and 'go to step'.
