Makino T4 has been designed for machining of large aerospace structural components.

The widespread use of CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic) in aerospace structural components helps in lowering the aircraft's weight as well as provides fuel savings. The coefficient of thermal expansion of titanium alloys has compatibility with that of CFRP, which has led to a rise in their use. However, titanium alloys provide very low machining productivity as they are hard-to-cut. This puts limits on the cutting speed due to their relationship with wearing of tools.

Makino T4 solves this problem and increases machining productivity when dealing with these hard-to-cut materials. T4 is commonly used in edge frames and pylons.
