IMD (In Mold Decoration) is a decorative process, characterised by a high level of design flexibility, which is hard to achieve through other forms of plastic moulding.
With In Mold Decoration plastic parts can be decorated during the injection moulding process by using a decorated film insert.
Design and functionality make high demands on the surface of plastic parts. Through the combination of injection molded plastic part with a functional plastic film, the film insert-molding process offers interesting solutions because the surface of the plastic part is created by the film.
The use of optimal designed film systems makes it possible to achieve the following properties:
