Motic's Moticam X are generally utilized for applications that involve wireless digital microscopy operations. This device transforms almost any old standard microscope into a wireless module, capable of transmitting live high-resolution images to a total of 6 WiFi-enabled devices, with no router required. Some of the devices the Moticam X is capable of sending images to include tablets, smartphones, and computers that run on iOS, Android, OSX, or Windows operating systems.

The Moticam X produces its own WiFi signal. This feature allows operations separate from existing networks. exhibits a CMOS sensor, a 1.3-MP live resolution rate (1280 x 1024), and a 1/3" optical calculation output. A 12-mm focusable lens, and 2 adjustable diameter eyepiece adaptors are also offered by the device.
