Memory and microcontroller
Even highly complex controlling tasks can be performed with the PowerCAN-PC104+ and its 128 KB RAM and 256 KB RAM flash. The card uses a Freescale Coldfire microcontroller with 32Bit. It is operated in a 16Bit de-multiplexed mode that guarantees an optimal connection to the PC104+ controller. An integrated programmable chip-select logic selects peripheral components like RAM and flash. Additionally, the implemented bootstrap-loader allows easy download of the firmware.

Compatible interface
Both PowerCAN-PCI and PC104+ are compatible to each other. That is why all existing applications with the same performance can be adopted conveniently. PC104+ is therefore an optimal choice for network controlling in the embedded sector.

CAN-interface
The card contains 2 galvanically isolated CAN-channels which signals can be gathered with a socket board. The interface is designed according to ISO11898 and DS301 and DS401. Two active 2.0B CAN-controller are as well implemented. There is an asynchronous balanced mode with both 11Bit and 29Bit identifiern possible.

Half and full duplex mode
Users can adjust the communication mode via BIOS settings. Half duplex mode is a reciprocal data transfer. Full duplex means a parallel operation and the transfer of CAN-data in both directions.
