The LD series of laser type edge detection sensors are capable of precise measurements according to FDA standards. The system utilizes either Class I or II red semiconductor lasers as emitters, along with a parallel optical beam. A CCD, on the other hand, acts as the receiving device.

Both the receiver and emitter are installed on the same body, so there is no need for optical beam alignment. Also, since the system's lasers are optimized in accordance with JIS and FDA standards, there is no need for protective gear and other safety measures.
