EL731 is an AC/DC sensitive earth-leakage relay that offers complete coverage for all frequencies, with values between 0 and 6,000Hz. In addition to this, users will require two CTs for the entire frequency range, or, alternatively, one CT for low- to high-frequency detection. Note that an RTD/PTC sensor input is also provided, allowing for over-temperature protection.

EL731 also offers metering capabilities, along with trip settings and a password protected alarm, along with optional network communications. The product is also used to add low-level ground-fault protection to variable-speed drives, and can be connected to a network using a standard Ethernet patch cable. The use of a crossover cable can apply for connecting the EL731 directly to a computer running IP-configuration, but this action is not recommended. An IP address is assigned to all computers running DHCP by a typical router, but the EL731 does not support the use of DHCP.
