Regenerative thermal oxidizers

The Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) uses the principal of heat exchanging through a ceramic mass, which allows to reduce fuel consumption considerably.

The thermal efficiency of these plants can reach a value of 96% in case there are no organic compounds contained in the exhaust air. In this case for example, the energetic contribution of the burner is just 4% of the total value of energy required for the reaction.

Most of the times, depending on the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) concentration, the oxidizer operates with zero fuel consumption.

From a VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) concentration of 2 g/Nm3, the regenerative oxidizers can operate without fuel consumption. In case of higher concentrations, it is even possible to recover the heat reaction produced, in the below listed applications:
• Steam boiler
• Air/air heat exchanger
• Air/oil heat exchanger
• Air/water heat exchanger

Main advantages of RTOs are:
• Remarkable reduction of the fuel gas consumption, up to zero while operating in auto thermal conditions.
• Low operating and maintenance costs.
• Extremely efficient.
• The Plant is not sensible to changes of concentrations and type of pollutants.
