The increased need for product traceability has forced the pharmaceutical industry to implement controlled and accurate product aggregation solutions.

Building on the company's expertise in parts handling, WLS has introduced its semi-automatic packing platform. The AP aggregation & packing platform is designed for accurate guiding and aggregation of containers in specific packing lanes. The AP can be linked to a CI platform to offer a complete code verification, aggregation and semi-automatic packing solution. With its own PLC and separately validated controls, the AP/CI combination can be integrated within an existing packaging line, or run as stand-alone system.

Known and verified containers exiting the CI are automatically counted and guided into one or multiple exit lanes. The AP controls keep track of how many containers with what serialized codes are in each lane. Each lane is enclosed so that, once inspected, the containers cannot be accessed until packing. The packing area is designed to the customer's specific requirements to facilitate carton loading. The aggregated containers information is sent to the carton labeling system so that the carton label can be coded accordingly.
