This larger model adds extra features to the testo 815 making it suitable for workplace measurements, assessors, and for measuring environmental and industrial noise. The testo 816 is easy to adjust using the supplied adjustment screwdriver and offers a frequency weighting to characteristic A and C. It features a backlit display, automatic range switchover and a switchable time weighting of Fast/Slow.

The device benefits from a BarGraph display, has a minimum and maximum memory, a built-in tripod knuckle screw (1/4 inch) and a mains unit connection. It has an AC output connection from recorders and amplifiers and a DC output with 10 mV7dB to connect recorders or dataloggers. The testo 816 gives a current reading and offers a section measurement range.
