CI insulated distribution boards come with a greater degree of protection when compared to the IP 65 and therefore it is used for all applications. They provide a greater level of protection for personnel as well as operational reliability. The box type assembly provides a wider range of combinations, by only requiring a few modular components and problem free expansions if necessary. The high degree of protection is ensured through the insulation materials used along with the total insulation. This term was first employed by Eaton and it has now been adopted in IEC regulations. It shows that the insulated equipment has received a complete enclosure in insulated materials in addition to the insulation measures stipulated via IEC 364 and DIN VDE 0100. The system comprises of type tested system components that can be combined as a requirement. These are used for making main distribution boards, sub distribution boards along with control panels.
