Sliding roller / steel / high-accuracy

On rolling applications, carbide becomes a very suitable material thanks to the hardness propierties far above steel. The tonnage rolled between regrinds gives a ratio of increased life in the order of 30:1 compared with high speed steel rolls. When rolling low carbon steels and for non-ferrous materials it can be even higher.

Case Description
Our experience on hot and cold rolling gives a warranty of less down time giving high undisturbed free-flowing production and substantial cost saving. The high modules of elasticity of carbide rolls are in the region of 2,5 3 times as comparable steel. This means roll deflection due to the rolling forces or separating forces, will be approximately one third of a steel part. This enables closer tolerances in the control of strip thickness and also means that flattening or deforming of the roll in the rolling zone will be less. When increased heat; thermal conductivity is about twice than steel, and carbide rolls operate at higher speed without affecting roll life. Cemented carbide can be produced with a very high polish virtually a mirror finish and this high quality of finish can be imparted to the metal being rolled.
