The bi-directional solid state switch in this series is designed for AC switching, as well as phase control applications such as temperature modulation controls, lighting controls and motor speeds. The sensitive type devices guarantee gate control in the first and fourth quadrants, which are needed for digital control circuitry. The standard type devices are normally operated in the first and third quadrants.

In terms of the features an benefits, the device is RoHS compliant with a voltage capability of 1,000V. The surge capability is up to 55A, while the electrically-isolated L-Package is UL recognized by 2,500Vrms. The solid-state switching eliminates arcing and contact bounce, creating voltage transients. The limited or restricted RFI generation depends on the activation point of the sine wave. The sine only requires a small gate activation pulse in each half-cycle. Typical applications include power tools, solid-state switches and others.
