The EL-100U2 series Industrial Ethernet layer 2 switches feature 8 port, auto negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. The series contains unmanaged 7/8 port switches for 10/100MBit/s. It also contains optional features of up to eight RJ45-Ethernet-ports and up to three optical ports which work with POF, HCS, and multimode or single mode fiber optics. Additional features include auto negotiation, MDX/MDIX and redundant power supply.

For transmission with POF, HCS and multimode or single mode fiber optics, it is vital to have ruggedness to electrical and magnetic interference, potential separation of transmitter and receiver and 40km range between two fiber optic systems. EDs and potential free contacts of a differential relay are all signals of defective states. Optional features include ST, SC as optical connection and E2000. The system communicates with two fibers or a single fiber by BIDI technology with SC connection.
