Radio modem / alarm / mobile / with digital I/O

The Ultima-2 is a flexible module for use in a wide variety of applications requiring monitoring and control where no local communications infrastructure is available. The quad-band GSM/GPRS module is used to communicate with the unit wherever mobile network coverage is available.

The GPRS option allows monitoring of the system via a web page. Simple SMS messages can be used to request the status of the system and to control the outputs. Incoming text messages from the network are forwarded, allowing network information such as low credit to be notified.

The use of deep sleep mode and carrier preselect allows each unit to minimise the amount of power consumed and thus elongates the life of the battery. A longer battery life means it is possible to increase the amount of time between planned maintenance visits to each unit which has the direct effect of reducing the cost of use of the whole system.

Alarms may be set on digital and analogue (minimum and maximum) and pulse counting with configurable messages. Low battery can be reported, and where a mains supply is used, it can also be monitored. Up to 10 numbers can be stored for alert SMS messages to ensure that urgent information is communicated.

Based on a standard message size of 4 Kbytes and a 15 minute scanning period, our estimates suggest that 976 messages can be stored in the 4MB logger giving approximately 2.5 years worth of storage.
