Cyclones can be divided in following three main categories:

Sawdust cyclones

Cyclones with a relative large diameter in relationship to the length. These cyclones have moderate separation ability and are mainly used within wood industries. Nominal pressure drop range: 40-60mm.wg
Battery cyclones

Distinguishing feature is relatively good separation ability. When a greater flow is required, you put them together innto large batteries to acquire less physical space and keep the high separation ability, whish is decreased with larger size. Nominal pressure drop range: 60-100mm.wg
High-efficiency cyclones

These cyclones has as the name suggest a high separation ability. They have similar appearance to battery cyclones, but the cyclone body is made bigger in relationship to the in- and outlets. Also these cyclones can be put together in a battery when greater flow is required. Nominal pressure drop range: 80-100mm.wg
