Fax capabilities are important in many embedded applications. For flexible system design in multifunction printers and fax machines, choose from three types of fax modems:

CFAX: Controller-based fax modem devices are a complete modem solution including a system controller and digital signal processor (DSP) for signal processing
DP5: Data Pump fax modem devices include a DSP for signal processing and require the system controller to be run on the host processor
SFAX: Soft fax modem includes only the interface to the CSP1040, and require the host processor to run the system controller and DSP firmware

All modems are paired with a common CSP1040 direct-access arrangement (DAA) telephone line interface device for a complete solution.
