Variable-speed pump controller

The pump is usually construed as a 50 Hertz design. Since various pumps with differing power reserves are available, an operation with higher frequencies is also possible. This possibility can be granted after a consultation with the manufacturer. For speed regulation, a frequency inverter is activated upon approaching the current limit. The chosen nominal current operates the ac drive at its maximum level. Should the pump need more power from the ac drive, the pump control can be used to fine tune the frequency until the ac drive is used to capacity. The frequency inverter can also be used to control up to 15 fixed frequencies via digital ports. This type of pump control allows for specific pressure stages. A pump with a frequency inverter has multiple advantages: It saves space in the control cabinet, screened cables become obsolete, multiple tasks can be coordinated easily, the heat transfer into the material is kept to a minimum and energy is saved. With the user friendly frequency inversion software ST®Drive, the pump control can be remote controlled using a PC (this is optional).
