The resistance of a Straingauge varies with the applied force. The force, pressure, tension, or weight can be converted into a measurable electrical resistance. Stress and strain are the result when an external force is applied to an object that is stationary. Stress is the internal resisting force of the object and strain is the displacement and deformation that occurs. Transducers, like pressure and load cells, stress analysis (torsion, force, length, compression) are typically produced by the Straingauges. They can be monoaxial, biaxial and triaxial. Constatan and karma are the most used material for strain gauges. A wide range of strain gauges is available.
