Oxy-Fuel Furnaces are designed as cross fired Unit-Melter while the oxidant for the fuel combustion is the Oxygen. The biggest advantage is the low energy consumption due to abolition of the Nitrogen on the combustion process. A complete Oxy-Fuel furnace is cheaper by approx 35% in comparison to an cross-heated regenerative furnace, cheaper by approx. 15-20% in comparison to an End fired furnace and approx. 25-30% cheaper in comparison to a Recuperativ furnaces.

HORN Oxy-Fuel Furnaces are designed to consider the specific conditions when firing with Fuel and Oxygen. Especially the reduced waste gas volume require modified superstructure design. Aim is to reduce the thermal load of the superstructure to less then 40 000 kcal / (m ³* h). This increase residence time of the flame gases inside the tank and increase efficiency.
