Double-tube sheet heat exchanger constructed and designed for the pharmaceutical industry for heating or cooling of Aqua Purificata or WFI.
Double-tube sheet heat exchanger with double-tube sheets are applicable in clean water systems for heating and cooling for example of sanitisation of Aqua Purificata loops or cooling of hot stored WFI at the tap. Double-tube sheet heat exchangers also are used in distillation plants and clean steam generators as well. Double-tube sheet heat exchangers are always needed where water for pharmaceutical purposes is cooled or heated with impure media.
Konstruktionsanforderungen
Through the special requirements of the FDA guidelines application of heat exchangers in clean water units is strictly regulated.

This means in particular complete draining, no dead storage capacity, sterilisability, utilisation of materials corresponding to FDA guidelines and a surface roughness under 0,8 µm. Above all it has to be assured that a contamination of the pure medium through the impure heating or cooling medium is excluded.


One frequent cause for this is a defective welding seam in the tube sheet. To avoid this heat exchangers are furnished with double tube sheets. If a leakage occurs the medium inevitably would run out.
