The is the newest development regarding the field of hyphenated techniques and it is the utilization of a Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) system as an interface between the liquid chromatography (LC) and NMR.


Usage of loop collection as well as transfer (BPSU-36/2) is a proved analysis technique in LC-NMR. But the samples are measured in the original eluent while concentration as given by the chromatographic system. Interferences with the (protonated) eluents as well as the low concentrations is because of the restricted on-column loading which are programmed.

For the process of LC-SPE NMR a chromatographic separation is performed while the peaks of interest are entrapped on an individual SPE cartridge after the column.
