Falling film evaporator / process / for liquids

GEA Wiegand GmbH Falling Film Evaporators are designed as a vertical shell-and-tube heat exchanger infused with laterally or concentrically arranged centrifugal separator. The liquid meant to be concentrated is sent to the heating tubes and designed to flow down as a thin film. This will then begin to boil and then gets partially evaporated as the heating tubes are heated from outside. There is a parallel downward flow of vapor while the liquid itself flows down, as necessitated by gravity. The two of them, residual liquid and vapor are later separated at the downstream centrifugal droplet separator. The film heating surface must be evenly and sufficiently wetted with liquid, uniformly. If not, dry spots will form which will in turn form deposits and incrustation.
