PIETRO CARNAGHI presents Model AP large vertical lathes. They have a 2-column structure, which has been developed for large components with part diameter of up to 14 meters (45.9 ft).

The machine has a ?formation?-type structure, with the columns fixed to the table base. The columns include the main spindle and gearbox. All these elements combined result in a robust machine, offering highest balance and sturdiness. This way it can resist the most difficult cutting conditions.

The cross rail has two horizontal sliding guides on the front side. These guides support the vertical ram saddle in a horizontal movement, via hydrostatic pockets. For topmost cutting efficiency, the distance from the superior to the inferior guide way is marked. FEM (finite elements analysis methodology) are used for designing all the machine structures. And thermal stabilization and treatment processes are used for the main frames.
