Pietro Carnaghi introduces a large vertical lathes for wider operations. The AS Series vertical lathe is designed of a single column of mm 6500 - mm 18000 diameter and extremely rigid structure. The structure with large diameter turning operations is empowered with immense capacity to maximize the working diameter thus increasing its functionality. The AS model structure is composed of one base that holds the spindle and table gear box.

One column structure with slideways is used for movable crossrail and table base (as optional feature it can be translating type). The ensemble of complete elements produces an extremely strong and stable rigid frame. Over years of experience in various fields from nuclear parts machining to aerospace components has led to the development of a sophisticated mechanism of the crossrail and column mechanical compensation. Three different types of compensation rods work in coordination to minimize geometric deflections that occurs from the movement of large mass units on the machine axis.
