Mitutoyo Formtracer Extreme CS-5000CNC is a stylus type CNC surface measuring instrument. It provides highly precise, simultaneous measurements of surface roughness and form/contour.

Maximum drive speeds are 40mm/s for X1 and 200mm/s for Z2-axes. This prevents positioning at high speeds, which may lead to significantly raising the throughput of measurement activities involving multiple profiles or multiple workpieces.

CS-5000CNC provides a high resolution of 6.25nm for X1-axis and for Z1-axis 4nm/8nm (CS-5000CNC) and 1nm/2nm (CS-H5000CNC). This is made possible by the Mitutoyo Laser Holoscale, which is included in the X1- and Z1-axes. It also enables form/contour and surface roughness measurement in batches.

The Z1-axis detector uses the active control method for implementation of broad range measurement capabilities, where there is a restriction on changes in dynamic measuring force. The Z1-axis detector also features a safety device to avoid collision. This leads to automatic stopping of the detector in case of a collision between the main body and a workpiece/jig.
