PC 104-plus interface card / series

RS-Combicard PC104+ is an extension card for additional serial interfaces like RS232 and RS485 with overall 4 interfaces that can be combined freely.

Interface-modules A and B
RS232
The transceiver of the RS232 interface is a MAX211ECW1 from Maxim. It is specified for transfer rates of up to 115kBaud. The interface is fully assigned with all handshake signals available.

RS485
When there are RS485 interfaces needed, we produce the card with Maxim MAX3988E transceivers with up to 115kBaud transfer rate. There is only half duplex operation possible.

Interface-modules C and D
Channels C and D are optional and can be either RS232 or RS485. This is an advantage for applications with differently high cabling efforts.

Half and full duplex mode
Users can adjust the communication mode via BIOS settings. Half duplex mode is a reciprocal data transfer. Full duplex means a parallel operation and the transfer of CAN-data in both directions. Shifting is done with DIP switches directly located on the card. While being in half duplex mode the shifting is done automatically or via application. The controller handles the evaluation. Any shifting takes place with 5% that is 20 bit times.
