RS-232 communication interface card / sensor

Sensor interface ASICs often have to communicate with remote controllers. There are many communications protocols in existence today and SWINDON ASICs have been designed to operate with some of these standards, examples of which given below:

SPI: Serial Peripheral Interface Bus

The SPI bus is a synchronous serial data link standard, that operates in full duplex mode. Devices communicate in master/slave mode where the master device initiates the data frame. Multiple slave devices are allowed with individual slave select (chip select) lines. SPI is also called a 4-wire serial bus.
UART universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter

A UART is a type of asynchronous receiver/transmitter, it translates data between parallel and serial forms and is commonly used in conjunction with communication standards such as EIA, RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.
HDLC High-Level Data Link Control

HDLC is based on IBMs SDLC protocol, which is the layer 2 protocol for IBMs Systems Network Architecture (SNA). It was extended and standardized by the ITU as LAP, while ANSI named their essentially identical version ADCCP.
